I'm starting pureed foods this week too! My doctor recommends these foods
with protein: Yoguert (no sugar), cottage cheese (low or no fat), custard
(sugar free),
cream soup (made with milk), pureed baby food meat (yummy) :-) , pureed
scrambled egg.
Or foods with starch, 2nd choice: mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, thinned
oatmeal, pudding, (sugar free), applesauce. Hope this helps!

Hi... well congrats on your surgery and the advancement off the liquids...
yeh !!! You can have lowfat yogurt - look at the sugar grams on the label
and buy the ones with the least, SF/FF puddings made with lactaid milk (in
case you have problems with dairy), protein shakes, applesauce, soft boiled
eggs or fluffy scrambled eggs. (you may have trouble with the scrambled
eggs if you cook them too dry) Thinned out cream of wheat. My surgeon and
dietician told me to stay away from oatmeal as it can cause a blockage, the
new opening from your pouch to your intestines is still inflamed and very
small. And, of course baby food. I made up the pudding with the lactaid
milk and some protein powder in it, so that I could boost my protein
intake. Always remember not to eat out of the containers, put the food in
a small bowl (I used the small glass bowl that the chefs put their spices
in) By eating out of the jar, bowl, etc, you are introducing your saliva
into the container which has bacteria in it. It can then spoil the food...
happy eating... HINT: use a baby spoon to eat. smaller bites, if you use
a regular teaspoon, you may be more apt to take too big of bites. good
luck...

I'm in the 2nd week of puree foods and I purchase one of those beef dinners
you slow cook in the crock pot for 8-10 hours and then take some and put it
in the blender (I left out the potatoes though) 2 grams of sugar and about
12 grams of protein per serving (I think --it may be less) -- I'm eating
some now. Smashed potatoes is a starch and should not be on your list for
at least 6 months -- which includes bread, rice, --especially white bread,
white rice, pastas, sweet rolls --once you started eating these they are to
be limited and are to be wheat. You should eat protein and veggies first;
therefore starches would have no place in your stomach at this time (I'm
reading from my Pathways to Gastric Bypass binder that we paid $300 bucks
for so I'm making good use of it).

Hi Dianne and thanks for your question. You have to decide what sounds
good. It may be different from before you had surgery. You can put
through a food processor beef, chicken or tuna and add mayo or somthing to
smooth it out, or make a broth for it. You can do yogurt or cottage
cheese, they are great choices of protein. I personally did a lot of
cottage cheese, and added applesauce with it (I like it that way). You can
only eat small amounts, but I was able to work with it. Find what helps
you, and be creative, think outside the box. You will figure it out. Take
care, Patricia P.

Patricia P. mentions pureeing tuna, but instead of mayo, use plain yogurt.
It can be flavored with ground onions, mustard or dill pickles.
