You have to drink more water. Mine is pretty clear now (6mo) but it took a lot of water. Can you eat baby food yet??

I'm sorry, I do not have an answer to the urine question, but I may be able to help with the protein problem. I use UNJURY protein pewder ( unjury.com ) and mix it with flat soda. My favorite combo is Sunkist diet orange with vanilla protein. Diet root beer is also good, as is diet cola with chocolate protein. Just pop the top on a can of soda and put it in the refrigerator over night to let the carbonation out. 20 Grams of protein and 90 caloies per ser5ving. MaryKay, Christmas, FL 11 months out

Have you've had a Urinalysis Test done yet or lately? (from the text of the "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" book) The color of your urine can provide a good clue as to wether you're drinking enough iquids. Your urine should be a pale yellow or clear. If it is Dark Yellow (and if your not taking any medications that color your urine), you need to drink more clear water. Don't wait till your thirsty to drink. By the time you begin to feel parched, your body has already started to dehydrate. Drink water or other zero calorie beverages in small, frequent sips throughout the day.

Try mixing any Protein Powders with zero calorie flavored waters. Unjury was what I first used. But now I use whatever Sam's Club has but only in Vanilla Whey. It absorbs much better than Soy Proteins. Your only a 4 week newbie. Give your body time to adjust itself to the major change you've put it through.

I'm so sorry you are having problems. I am now about 5 months out and 70 pounds lighter. As for your issues...I would recommend as a nurse and a patient, drinking more water....My surgeon had me keep a daily log for 4 months of what I ate and how much I drank. No soda, nothing but water (crystal light, and no calorie drink mixes are ok) and only 16 ounces of milk a day. I had trouble initially with the skim milk, but it's ok now. He starts you off with a sip of water every 2 minutes and then you build to 60 ounces daily by the first month's end. I am now up to over 100 ounces of water daily and 16 ounces of skim milk daily. That should help the urine problem. As for the protein, I was not permitted to use protein powder or shakes of any kind. My doctor is dead set against them. I pureed foods high in protein, added powdered milk to up the protein and lots of other little things to get all my protein in. By the end of the third week post-op, I was getting my 60 grams of protein daily most days. Crab, Chicken, Lobster, Shrimp, and Pork are the best meats. Eggs are good and you can get powdered egg whites also. The protein is in the white....Also, there is 1 gram of protein in every ounce of milk. At 5 months, I have gone from a size 22 to a size 12 and lost 70 pounds. I feel great and eat pretty much everything I want to. I eat a protein bar for breakfast everyday which is 20 grams of protein right away. Then drink a pint of skim milk which is 16 grams of protein. So by lunch, I am already half way to my daily goal of 60 grams daily.... Then a few ounces of meat with lunch and a few with supper and I'm there. I eat Pro-Protein bars which are available at Wal-Marts for about $1 each. They are good, not too high in calorie and 20 grams of protein. My rules from the doctor were easy to follow, but I don't see that many people on obesity help have the same guidelines....No soda, no smoking, less than 10 grams sugar and less than 10 grams fat per serving, 60 grams protein daily and lots of water.... If you want to talk, email me at [email protected] or here and we can chat about eating, etc.... take care and good luck...

I am seven weeks out RnY. I find the protein shakes tough to get down as well. I find that warm works better than cold. I warm skim milk and then mix with powder. Matrix Perfect Chocolate tastes good to me. As far as the urine... As has been said before, drink more. I know it is hard in the begining, but it does get easier. I have been having hot tea has my "water". Hope this helps. I found a website that has single serving sizes of different protein powders so you can try a few before getting a big tub and finding out you hate it! The website is www.c2linfo.com , they have tons of good stuff!

You may not be abe to drink milk now. That is what happened to me. Try using soy milk instead.

Protein drinks make me sick, too, but I choke them down. I have trouble getting enough protein, and getting all my liquids in, and I am two years out!
