Question:
The steps to wls?
I've contacted my ins company and they cover the surgey. So now what should I do to get the ball moving on WLS? — Jaime Moore (posted on April 26, 2006)

Hi Jamie,
I am in the process of getting insurance approval myself. But what I would
suggest as a start is go to the your WLS journey on this sight, it is a
step-by-step guide. If you click on home at the top, then you'll see your
WLS journey, it has a wealth of info. You also need to find out what are
your insurance companie's requirements for the surgery, like mine required,
meidcally necessary, 40 BMI or higher, 12 consecuative(sp)months medically
supervised weight loss attempt, over 18. So you will need to find out the
requirements of your insurance, if you need a referral to a surgeon, or if
not you need to make a appointment with one, once you decide WLS is right
for you, and what type you want. Hope this helps,
LOL Jen

JUST GO TO THE DOCTOR THAT IS NEAR YOU THAT YOU WANT TO DO THE SURGERY AND
THEY WILL SET IT ALL UP... GOOD LUCK

HI! i would suggest looking under local resources. I know that they list
local seminars and support group meetings. I think Most Seminars are free.
Usually there they can give you all kinds of info, you gt a chance to ask
questions and they often give you what steps you should take next. Good
Luck!

I spoke with my GP (need a referral from him anyway). He told me about some
of the hoops. I then contacted the surgeon I would be referred to, as well
as the insurance company to confirm these "hoops".

Hi and congratulations on making this wonderful decision. I called local
hospitals to find a weight management center, they had free seminars and
they guided me the rest of the way. Good luck. You are worth it.
