I started out 5'5" 300lbs and it has been 18months since surgery. Try
not to think about what is "normal". One of the many thing I have
learned from this site is YOU WILL ESTABLISH WHAT IS NORMAL FOR YOU. You
will lose just follow your instincts, what the doctor says, and advice from
this site. Try not to stress over plateaus as they will happen. I believe
our bodies will go to our normal weight that is best for us. Pretty soon it
will be 18months for you too and you will wonder why you even worried about
"normal". Relax and best of luck with your journey! Open RNY

Patrice- You're doing GREAT hon. You hang in there and try not to compre
ourself too much to others. I'm 5 foot 5 and started at an official weight
of 306 (Between you me and the lamp post- I wasn't weighed on surgery day,
and I KNOW I weighed more like 320!) Anyhow, I had RNY on 11/18/02, so I'm
about 19 months out and I currently weigh 138. My goal weight was 190! I
weighed 190 at my 1 year mark. (guess I did a little better than I thought
I could) I was about the same at 5 weeks as you. Good luck!!

I started out 5 6 and 311, I guess I am considered one of the "slow
loosers". I am 7 months out and 65 lbs lost forever.. My surgeon is
very pleased, He likes to see an average of 10 lbs a month, over a 15 month
period. I, on the other hand was hoping for more. There are days that I
feel like I am destin to be a failure at this as well, then I slap myself
back to my sences and realize that I AM STILL LOOSING, HEALTHY, & IN
THIS FOR THE LONG HAUL...And try to focus on the LOOSING part of slow
looser, rather than the slow part..So know that you are not alone in
this... Thank You for your post.. I guess I knew there were slow loosers
out there, but I needed a post like this this morning myself.. Hang in
there, drink your WATER, and get your PROTEIN..GOD BLESS..
OH, and if you would like to, you can email me whenever your needing to
hear there are other sloooow loosers out there. [email protected]
