I never did do the protein shakes, not saying they arent good just could
not stomach them. I eat a scrambled egg with some cheese and a bit of ham
for breakfast. Normally cant eat the whole thing but I get some protein
there. Also tuna, salmon, shrimp, but I do drink skim milk and also like
yogurt.Best of luck to you. Fruit has alot of sugar but I eat a portion
daily also.

take it is called Nectar. you can get samples on line www.wlssuccess.com.
Try it they have different flavors the one I do best with is called fuzzy
navel. It really helped me and it did not get me sick. No suger in it.
Good Luck!!!

I agree with the last poster. I have found nector to be very, very good.
Get alot of samples before buying one. It comes in a very large bucket.
My personal favorite was the apple, but found them all to be great. If
Whey makes you sick, you may want to find a soy protein drink. If your
lactose intolerant, the soy will not make you sick. Just make sure you
find something with very low carb and low fat. The eggs and cheese are
also a great choice. I also found chocolate unjury with low carb milk
really good. It's not chalky, and misses up really nice. The unflavored
can be sprinkled on anything as well. That too would help. So, Unjury for
Chocolate and unflavored, and Nector for Juice or friut. I've found
samples for about 1.75 each. Good luck to you.. Take care, see you on the
loosing side very soon!!!! :)

Just a suggestion... You can go to the GNC store and purchase the "ANY
WHEY" Protien powder mix. It has 17g of protien per scoope. The
"ANY WHEY" brand is plain, has no flavor. You can add it to
anything you cook pretty much. It allows me to get in a little more protien
by using it.

Just a thought... my doctor has pretty much banned fruit for me (I am 11
months out, down 145 lbs)... too much sugar. When I first could eat solids
I ate cheese omelets with egg substitute and 2% or fat free cheese (I did
this for several months, occasionally adding a protein shake made of 8oz
skim milk, 4oz egg substitute and a no sugar added Instant Breakfast). Now
I eat a lot of lolo carb yogurt, cheese and protein bars, and get over 120
grams protein and 25 grams or less carbs every day; calorie intake varies
from 1000-2000 per day.

First, at 5 weeks out you are probably in ketosis which will alter your
taste buds. Secondly, there are dozens of different protein drinks on the
market-- you can definitely find at least one that won't make you vomit.
You may want to find one that has relatively little fiber in it as those
are much easier to digest; also, chill it so it will go down easier.
Thirdly, understand that protein drinks aren't designed for your
enjoyment-- they are simply nutrition, purely utilitarian. Fourth, fruit
at 5 weeks out isn't a good choice as the more protein you consume the
faster your weight loss (and the less loss of muscle mass you'll
experience).

Hi. I am just 6 days post op from open RNY in Michigan. However, I have
done a lot of reseeacr ahead of time and have bought a liquid protein
called "Pro-Stat" It is 15 grams of protein per teaspoon! It is
wild starwberry and I plan on mixing it with my plain yogurt, etc..!!
Go to pro-stat.com if interested. There also is an 800#, but I cannot find
the bottles right now. Was 30.00 a bottle. But, I sure don't want to lose
my hair over not getting in enough protein! I was told 60-70 grams per day
is what we should be getting.....Good Luck

It can take a while to stomach protein shakes. Eventually you will be
able to have them and even enjoy them. You can really doctor up the
shakes, for instance, use vanilla powder, put in blender with ice, water,
non-fat yogurt, banana, fresh fruit, sweetener..very yum!! When I was an
early post-op and could not stomach the protein powders I used the Isopure
zero carb drinks (glass bottles, 40 oz of protein). They look like koolaid
and have flavors like grape frost and blue rasberry. I would cut them in
1/2 with water, put over ice and sip all day. I know some who mixed in
some crystal lite...I found them at Vitamin Shoppes and GNC.

In my first weeks of WLS I was drinking ISOPURE from GNC. It comes premade
and tastes like koolaid to me. My surgeon recommended it for me. It is a
20oz bottle with 40 grams of protien. It is not think like a shake. Its
thin like water.

You said: "i absolutely can not do the protein shakes"
Sad to say, but if you do not intake the proper amount of protein, you will
probably have quality of life that was far worse than when you were at your
heaviest. Protein is our energy and building blocks. This is where you have
to say to yourself, drinking my protein everyday is NOT an option, it is a
requirement to sustain my life. Fruit contains high amounts of calories and
sugar. You have to drink your protein. There are loads of different brands
to choose from. http://www.Vitalady.com has nearly all of the brands, and
she has sample sizes to buy so you don't spend lots of money finding the
ones you like. Since you like fruit, the Nectars will probably appeal to
you. The lemonade is pretty good. Drink your protein - you CANNOT LIVE
WITHOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PATRICE since you like fruit why not do what I do, I use vanilla Isopure
(there are other brand that have no flavor) mixed with 16 oz of filtered
water, your favorite fruit (cut up) some ice cubes mixed in a blender. I
do this every morning at 5 weeks you won't finished the entire 16 oz but
you can sip for up to 4 hours before the protein breaks down.

Try proplete gold protien powder. Best tasting stuff I have found. They
have many differnt flavors. It has 20 grams of protein per scoop. Mix it
with Carb Countdown dairy drink and you get 32 g of protien in 8 oz drink.
