Question:
ANY CHANCE I'LL EVER BE ABLE TO WEAR SIZE SMALL IN SCRUBS?

I WENT TO A GARAGE SALE LAST WEEK AND HIT THE "MOTHER LODE"...AT LEAST FOR A NURSE! I BOUGHT A WHOLE NEW WARDROBE OF SCRUB TOPS, PANTS AND JACKETS RANGING IN SIZES FROM SMALL TO X-LARGE. WHAT AN EXCITING FIND! I FIGURED I COULD PUT THEM AWAY AND HAVE A NEW "WORK" WARDROBE ALL READY FOR "THE OTHER SIDE". THESE RUN NEW FROM $15 AND UP...EACH PIECE AND I GOT THEM FOR 25 CENTS EACH TO $2.50 FOR A MATCHED SET. I AM SO EXCITED, BUT AFTER I WASHED THEM AND WAS FOLDING THEM, I WAS LOOKING AT THESE TEEN-EYENSY (SP.?) LITTLE THINGS AND WONDERED 'AM I EVER REALLY GOING TO BE ABLE TO FIT INTO THESE LITTLE BITTY THINGS ....THEY LOOK LIKE DOLL CLOTHES (AT LEAST WHEN YOU ARE IN THE 325 LBS/49-50 BMI RANGE AND ARE 5'8" TALL).' SO I THOUGHT I'D GET Y'ALLS OPINION...SHOULD I HANG ON TO THEM FOR THE FUTURE OR AM I DREAMING "WAY TOO SMALL"???? LOL    — DELINDA T. (posted on October 24, 2002)

Definitely save them. You'll be amazed how fast you'll go through sizes. Also, at 3 years out, I've recently lost another 20 pounds! So, even though you lose the fastest the first 6 months, don't let that "window of opportunity" crap scare you! Open RNY 8/99 306/164/whatever

I would never say never. I went from a 4x to a medium in 13 months. The last time I wore a medium, I was in the fourth grade. The worst part of the whole journey, keeping cloths on your back that don't look like (sh) because they are so baggy. What a ride, every obese person should be as lucky as us.

I am 3 months post op,and a light weight. All my clothes are suddenly much too big, you will be amazed how many inches you lose, much faster than pounds, too. Same the small ones and have a ball trying them on. Nothing is more fun than seeing how things are fitting better, and better and finally you feel hot! in them. I feel so great and so beautiful. My sisters are nurses and I know what a great find that was for you! Bobbi 7/23/02 20/150/130 20 lbs away from goal at only 3 months!

I'd say there is a damn good chance! (Pardon the French). I'm only 5'3 and was 319 lbs... 58.3 BMI. Now I'm 162.75 with a 28.7 BMI. (Open RNY on May 8th, 2001). I was wearing 3X tops and 56 jeans. Now my jeans are a very loose 34 (I'm guessing I can wear a 32 easly) and my tops (shirts & jackets) are small and medium (depending on the manufacturer). Funny thing is I was looking at an old picture of myself from the early 1980's. I'm guessing I was around 138-145 (probally the lesser) and I look that size now!????? You would'nt believe how many clothing sizes I went down in the first 6 months! There for awhile I was dropping one size (example jeans 50 to 48) once every 10-14 days... sometimes sooner. (Thankfully I kept most of my clothes from the skinny years and did'nt have to buy many clothes). If you don't try to "beat your surgery" I'll guess you'll be in a medium or small in 14 months or less. (Let me know then if I'm right, ok?). Best of luck to you!

Delinda, IT IS OK TO DREAM, and dreams do come true. It is very possible so let the scrubs be your goal. If you lose anything like me you will need all those sizes because it litterly seems like your melting and one day you may wear something and the next it fall off of you :) Congratulations on your wonderful find and I wish you the best on your surgery.

Hang onto those scrubs!!! Seriously, I went shopping the other day, and came away with a variety of tops and bottoms. One pair of "dance pants" for working out, from Reebok, were size L, but everything else was S. (I've noticed this about trendy gym clothing -- it's made for the little teenybopper people, so a L there is more like a medium anywhere else.) And I tried on some size S things that I cannot wear...because they are TOO BIG for me! Unbelievable, but true. I am 5'10", and before my surgery I figured that the best I could hope for was *maybe* to sqeeze into a size L at a normal store. I thought this would be a huge victory for me. And it was...but then I kept shrinking! The other day, I had to take a size 8 shirt back to the store, as I needed a 6. The 8 hung off me like a sack. This is so totally unbelievable to me, I have to keep reminding myself that it's true. So put those scrubs away, and don't rush anything, but one of these days, you'll take them out and they won't look so teeny-tiny any longer. Trust me, it will happen!

Hi, Delinda, I was a size 22 and I am now a size 6/8 and wear almost everything in a small! So I would say YES! You will make it, I am not a small frame either, so I think you have an excellent chance, especially since scrubs are made sort of blousy/ I wish you the best/ Patti MEadows

Hold on to them!!! I am 5'8" too and have gone from a size 26W to a 14 since my surgery in March. I am now wearing a size large in most everything, sometimes even a medium. I bet you'll be wearing those extra larges within 3-4 months after your surgery. Good luck.

I'm a nurse and at the time of surgery was wearing a 4x in unisex scrubs! I'm over 2 years out, down 140 lbs. and now wear a medium pants and small scrub top....unisex. It's a GREAT feeling! In fact, just realized this week that the small scrub top is a perfect fit!

Hold onto them!!!! I am 5'11" and weighed 270 and wore a 3-4X depending on the clothes. Now 15 months later I weigh 142 and wear a 8 in pants and a small/x-small in tops. I never thought I would be this little. I am smaller than I was in high school and that is 15 years ago. Good luck!!!
