Question:
Belly Button Pain
I am almost 15 months post-op and down to 179 from 326, I was having stomach pain so my Dr. put me on Nexium it eliminates the pain but I have tryed to switch to something less expensive and within 2 days I have really bad aching at my belly button, I go back to the Nexium and within 2 days it stops, I am not sure if it is a hernia or what I have no bulges and the pain is only in my belly button. Anyone else have this or any insight. I see my PCP for annual the end of Sept. Thanks in advance — KAREN T. (posted on September 1, 2002)

Any unexplained pain should be checked out with a dr visit. It could be
nothing, it could be an ulcer, or one of many, many things. It could be
any number of things, and could turn out to be something as minor as
nothing and will go away. If it is bothersome enough to write here about,
get it checked sooner than your annual physical. A co-pay is always worth
the insurance of making sure it is nothing serious or that could turn
serious without a test or two. It also makes for piece of mind.

I read a profile on the net about a lady who had belly button pain. She
had a hernia repaired during her WLS and it was near the belly button. She
told her doctor about the pain and he drained lots of fluid out of the
area. This may not be your problem but I hope it helps.
