Question:
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A WEIGHT LOSS FRIENDLY PCP WHO CAN GIVE ME A REFERAL. I

I HAVE CALLED THE WLS DR. I PLAN ON GOING TO FOR SURGERY, I ASKED IF THEY COULD GIVE ME NAMES OF DR.S WHO COULD BE MY PCP, THEY SAID NO THEY COULDNT! I HAVE EMAILED PEOPLE FROM THIS SIGHT ASKING ADVICE, NO ONE REPLYED! I HAVE NOT BEEN TO A DR. IN 17 YRS! JUST GOT AETNA INSURANCE! I NEED A PCP! THANKS    — CYNDI B. (posted on August 20, 2002)

Hi. I'm not from your area, but how about calling and asking. Pick a few doctors out of the phone book and ask the receptionist if she knows if the doctor has dealt with WLS prospects before. I'm not sure if they'll tell you, but it's worth a shot. That's what I did.

Hi Cyndi. I didn't need a referral from a PCP to see a surgeon, but my sister did. Her PCP told her that she wasn't big enough for wls (5'2" 255lbs!) I gave her the # of my PCP and she gave her a referral with no problem. My sister has Aetna and my PCP was covered under this insurance. I don't know if you'd want to keep Dr. Syed as your PCP, because we're not real close to you, but it would be worth it to come out here to get a referral. Dr.Shahwar Syed is located at 2250 w. My PCP is great she is in St Louis her name is Laurie Senol her phone number is 314 919-2600. Tell her I referred you. She was at first not a WLS believer but she is now. Good luck she is with Unity Health Group
