Hi Paula, I experienced heartburn around the same time period you are at.
I found that it was certain foods/drinks that were agrivating me anything
acidic...I had to cut out the crystal lites they were killing me. Fruit
does the same thing to me. My dr told me to buy liquid maalox and take
half of the adult dose about 1/2 hr before my meals and that really helped.
I do not have the problem any more...but I still stay away from the things
that were making it worse for me.

I got horrible heartburn on weeks 2 thru 4. I ate tums like it was going
out of style. It did go away however. I think it is your stomache
adjusting to food versus liquid and also the size of your stomache
producing the same amount of acid.

If you are getting severe heartburn after eating, you need to talk to your
surgeon. You could be jeopardizing your staple line with an ulcer. My
doctor has me on Prevacid as needed "for life" as he told me when
I asked how long I would need it. (I need it once or twice a week.) The
heartburn that causes you discomfort is also affecting your incision. Talk
to your surgeon.
