Question:
Stomach pains

I am preop and I am wandering if you postops have hunger pains or any other stomach pains like for instance when you wake up during the night . I guess I'm asking will there ever be a time when you don't have pain?    — PAULA B. (posted on May 14, 2002)

I am only 2 weeks post op and have been pleasantly surprised to find out that, for me, this surgery has been pretty pain free since being home. The self administered pain meds in the hospital were great and I don't remember ever being in great pain. It was all controlled. When I got home I was able to move pretty easily and was most happily surprised that I could get up and down and out of chairs and bed without any assistance! I have only felt "hungry" one day and just kept eating homemade soups which I had made with meat and veggies and blended before surgery to have on hand. These were great. I am satisfied with 3 meals per day and 2 snacks plus all the liquid I drink which includes V-8 juice which satisfies. Hang in there, ask lots of questions of your doctor and us. You will know what is best for you!!!!

I am 2 days shy of 4 weeks post op. I have not had any hunger pains yet. Sometimes I have mental hunger... I can tell it isn't real because it usually happens when I am bored or upset about something. Like everyone else says, I just drink through those times. Water still makes me sick, so it is usually diet Snapple (Rasp/Cran rocks) or Fruit 2-0 from VeryFine. As for the stomach pain, I had my procedure lap, so I was fine after a week. Good Luck to you!

7 mos post op. Yes I have hunger pains. They feel the same as they did pre-op. But you get full MUCH faster and when you do feel full, its like a giant meal full feeling from just a small ammount. How cool is that?!
