6weeks PO vbg i was told that i could not take anything that was bigger
around then my pinky...so the answer depends on the size of your pills.
hope that this helps

I am post op gastroplasty and was told I could not take
anything larger than an aspirin or advil. Think about the
possibility of not having to take all those pills once your
weight is down!!!

I'm a year post open vbg. It depends on the size of your medications. I
was told that we can take any gel capsule (the ones that can be pulled in
half) and they will go right through. The Gel ones that are filled with
oils NEVER dissolve, avoid taking them. Pierce them instead and take the
liquid. I have some tablets that are smaller than 8mm (size of a chocolate
m & m) that I can take whole and other's have to be halved or
quartered. I can't do the horse pill calcium citrate tablets and when I
cut them I gag on the taste and the jagged edges. (If anyone has help for
this confuzzled Canadian on palatable calcium citrate please advise). Much
luck!

I had gastroplasy about 15 years ago, and I can pretty much take any size
pill. I know when I was in the hospital after they took the IV out, they
wanted me to take pain meds before the pain got too bad. I took the two
pills and felt like I needed to jump up and down to get the unstuck. It
got better over time.
