Question:
no energy and fatigued ...help... please!!!
I am 13 months out from RYN and still have no energy and feeling constantly fatigued.I had blood work done at my year visit and surgeon said everythibg came back fine except for the 2 major things that the lab forgot to do labs on grrr.which were CBC and CMP.I have been feeling like this since I was 6 months post-op.I am waiting for the rest of the bloodwork results to come back,i'm just tired(literally)of feeling this way.I have lost 130 lbs. and should have the energy levels of my 2 yr. old grandson.Any advice would be appreciated:) — yvonneiam (posted on January 19, 2011)

What is your intake? I am four months post-op and I know I had absolutly
no energy, until I could finally eat enough protein.

Coming from a place of wanting to loose every pound I could, I maintained
my protein counts, but kept a huge deficit going by limiting my carb counts
to about 60 per day (mostly fruit and veggie). I continued to lose and was
looking quite sickly. Started to eat additional snacks thinking that my
workouts were burning more than I was eating--so I still focused on
protein.
Finally went to my dietician and she said, do you feel a bit tired? Are
your kidneys bothering you? Yes and yes, but I keep pushing cause I know I
need to. Well, she looked at my food journal and said that everything I
was eating was great, but that my body had to work overtime to process the
protein for fuel, that I needed to pick up 500 calories a day (just to
equal up to my average daily calorie burn) and that they should be complex
and some simple carbohydrates. I'm not telling everyone that carbs are OK,
especially the simple ones. But when I started to eat a simple carb before
the work out with some protein and more complex carbs throughout the day
overall I had some great results:
My hair came in thicker and more curly than ever
My low back (think flank-kidneys) stopped aching
My energy increased--so did my running speeds
My face took on a normal appearance-not skin on bones
People stopped asking if I was done loosing weight (even though I only
gained 3 lbs, and still got into smaller clothes)
So check out your dietician. Bring him/her your food journal and exercise
journal. They can tell you how many calories you need and where to get the
right balance.

I am 13 months out also and was complainting to my dr. about the some thing
that I felt so tired and that my fingernails, fingertips and round the side
of mouth kept cracking he suggested I take vitamin B-1. I have to say it
has helped my mouth from cracking and picked up my energy little so far but
it hasn't helped my fingers yet. I think you should ask your Dr.or
Nut.about it first before you start taking it .

I felt like that also and found out that I was depleted of iron. I'd visit
your primary care doctor too.
