I would love to hear what others say on this. I am 12 weeks out and can't
even eat a whole egg yet...fruits are great and go down easy but if I eat
some banana, I can only do one or two small bites and I am good. I really
don't even get or feel hungry.

Hi Tammy... I had my surgery 12/09 your hunger from my experience is mental
hunger not physical hunger. Becareful I made the mistake of eating too muh
cause I "thought" I was hungry and ended up with
"dumping". Very painful. I kept thinking I was hungry. I
fought the cravings off, ignored them. I am now very happy and down 66lbs
since surgery, 75 lbs total. Also... Banana's are constipating...
becareful! Eat eggs instead. Good luck

Nothing is wrong with you... I eat more than most rny patients, but am
still losing. Just eat your protein first - you will fill up faster -
exercise, and you will see the scale go down. Make sure you are getting
close to, at or just over the amount of protein your surgeon wants you to
have day... right now you are probably on mushies, so most of your protein
would come from pured meats (I used to put it in the blender with soup
stock) and supplements like shakes. Hope this helps.

You are having "head hunger". You are really not hungry at all.
Your nerves that control hunger have been cut during surgery and take a few
months to grow back. You will actually feel growls and pangs in your pouch
when the hunger does start. It is either head hunger or you are thirsty.
Try sipping on water or other forms of liquid, and see how that works for
you. At four weeks out, most of use were still on liquids. Give your
pouch a chance to heal. It is still swollen and sore. Putting in a banana
is really to soon anyway. However, to answer your question, nothing is
wrong with you. just watch out for the head hunger monster. It will
provoke you to eat, but you are not hungry. (try liquids) take care

which type of weight loss surgery did you have?

Hi! congrats on the surgery! Now...do not ever eat more than the few bites
allowed...a bite ..wait 5 minutes and then another etc for 20 minutes to
30 if needed..this means 4-7 bites, but your bites should be half of your
before surgery bite size. A whole banana is too much and you don't want to
stretch your pouch this early out. Not to mention sabbatoge yourself. Take
this time to recognize the diiference between head hunger and real hunger.
Feeling hungry is not the same as having hunger pangs. When you feel
hungry..drink and see if it goes away. if it does..it was head hunger.
Disipline yourself...eat only 1-2 ounces 3 times a day..no snacking.
Everyone wants to be successful with this surgery. its only a tool. The
real work comes in the form of retraining yourself to eat smaller meals,
eat healthier foods, and eating slower. You are now eating to live...so
everything you consume should be the most nutritious you can find. Our
bodies (rnyers) will not absorb all the nutrients, so the most is necessary
for a healthy body. Not getting the right stuff in, results in
complications later on down the road. Protein in first..its more
filling...but, Talk with your nut about your hunger issues. they are there
to help.best of luck and God Bless...hugs, Kim
