Question:
I need ideas for calcium...
I had my post op with my surgeon almost two weeks ago. He had me start on multi-vitamis, iron and calcium. I chose to go with the calcium that his office recommends. It is a disolveable powder. Supposedly there is no taste...I can taste it. So my questions are....what do you all do for calcium? Got any good drink recipes? How long do I need to wait after taking my iron until I can take my calcium? Thanks! — wearfamily2004 (posted on November 29, 2009)

The caramel flavored Walmart Springvalley brand is good as well. You will
find that as well as multivitamins, you may also change up your protein
supplements. My taste has changed many times postop to now. There were a
few weeks postop that I could barely stand to chew those. I also bought
gummy adult vitamins to help me get thru although I always tried the next
week to get back on the Bariatric versions. I went to ATL Conference and
bought some DELISH! Calcium Creamy Bites that are like Lemon Chiffon Pie or
creme flavor. I am addicted to those currently! Email me and I will get you
the link to the gentleman that sells those as well as other protein bars
(100 calorie folks!). It was all a big hit at the conference and the easy
to consume was 10+ at his table! Congrats on your journey. Also, take
calcium separate from your multivitamin and iron. I take my multivitamins
/iron/biotin in the am. and then the Calcium you take no more than 500mg at
a time(more than 500 is not absorbable per Nurse at my doctor office). Then
put the calciums in your pocket or on kitchen counter and have them during
the rest of the day. I take 3 a day.

I use the TwinLab Chewable Calcium Citrate. They are huge citrus flavored
wafers and I get them either at The Vitamin Shoppe or at the Vitamin
Cottage, but I'll bet that Whole Foods carries them, too. At first I
thought they were a little powdery, but now I've come to enjoy them, and
would eat them as a treat if I could. As it is, I take two, three times
per day. And they're not bad, taste-wise or cost-wise.
