You probably won't feel any restriction until you have a fill. Mine was wide open after surgery allowing the swelling to go down.

Right after banding, you have nothing in your band to cause restriction. You have to be careful of what you eat, start practicing on getting your proteins in first and foremost. Talk to your doc about getting a fill..........then the real weight loss begins. Also, you do not want to bring food back up, that is not good for your band. You simply want to be full on as little as you can get down. HTH, Trish

I know most ppl are telling you to just wait until you get a fill and then you WILL feel the restriction. Well hopefully that will be the case for you b/c it has not been for me yet. I am 2 1/2 months with my band and wa told I have a large band. I had NO restriction in the beginning and was told the same thing by everyone about just waiting til my 1st fill. Well had that done 1 month after surgery a yea maybe there was a slight difference as far as restriction but nothing like I planned for. I just recently had my 2nd fill last friday and I told the doctor that the last fill did nothing for me especially after about 1 and 1/2 weeks all of the little I did feel went away. He said okay then lets put some more in. btw 1st was 4cc this last one he put in 1cc. I drank the water sitting there for him to make sure it went down and sure enough nope i threw it up so he took out 1/2cc and then I could barely get the water down but I did and so I left thinking FINALLY I can now have this restriction everyone talks about and actually feel like I have a lapband. Umm, wrong, nope that same day there was the restriction and after that I feel most of the restriction has already diminished. I can eat anything I want to at this point if I wanted to....bread, steak, chxn, pasta. I know Im not supposed to so I am not but that is me relying only on my will power to stay away from those foods instead of there also being this "TOOL" to help me. My will power could have been used on a reg diet plan and we all know where that got us all! lol I cant go back for another 6 weeks for another fill. I am freakin out thinkin this is not working for me at all. The whole reason I got this surgery was for food restriction so I wont eat as much. Sorry to go ranting on YOUR QUESTION, I guess that was kinda rude of me but I just wanted to let you know my situation in case same thing happens to you. I am so confused at this point and sounds like I am looking for some of the same answers as you are. Well good luck to you hopefully you WILL have that RESTRICTION soon!
