Question:
Amount of food

How much food should I be able to eat at a time at 15 months outfrom lap RNY. I can eat around a cup or a little more at a time. I always try to choose healthy choices. Also, is it okay to eat whole wheat bread in moderation?    — lesleigh07 (posted on March 21, 2009)

I did at 15 mos and still do 5 years later...I have not gained my weight back eating as you do. I have had nothing but success...It's when I make bad choices and graze all day on sweets that I have gained...Sugar always makes me gain...Every single time I go on sugar binges I am finding myself having to work off a 2-3 lb flux...I have NO trouble, however, with complex carbs...None at all! Sugar and white carbs..different ball game! :)

at 6 months I was told whole wheat only. Its a complex carb so it better for you. The white bread is the no no...anything white flour related. moderation is key at any time, of course. Good luck to you and congrats on your success. As far as how much you eat..I am only 9 months out and eat 4 oz at a meal...so I am of no help there. Good Luck & God Bless! hugs, kim

Each surgeon has their own preferences - mine says never ever should I have more than 1 cup of food at a meal, and I should have 3 meals a day and no snacks. He also says I should never have any breads/crackers/pasta/rice - it will all swell in your stomach, leaving less room for protein. He did say if I start getting hungry between meals, I should add a little benefiber to a beverage - and he also wants us to replace one of our meals with a protein shake (Metagenics Bariatrix protein powder) ever day - preferably for life - as it is loaded with extra vitamins and minerals and it is absorbed well by our systems. This is what MY surgeon recommends. Check with yours.
