Question:
I would like information on gastro-gastric fistula

I have a fistula and will need surgery to correct it. I am gaining weight and can eat more. Please give me some information on the surgery and possible complications. Is this norman?    — kamack (posted on February 16, 2009)

I too have a fistula and my doctor says its caused by an infection. i an not having surgery at this point because i am only 8 wks out and have lost 50 lbs. he says in the future i may have issues with weight gain. and problems with ulcers because of the extra acid produced by the second stomach

Kathy, please tell me how much weight you've gained and how long post op did it start? I'm 4yrs post op and have been constantly gaining weight and able to eat anything and get hungry a few hrs after eating. I've found a surgeon that does revisons, so I've had the barium swallow test and have to undergo upper GI next month. What were your symptoms?Thanks, Cheryle

I started gaining weight about 4 years post op. I have gained about 70lbs. The fistula will need to be closed. I had my surgery Dec. 2001.
