Question:
A question for the post-op men...
I would like to hear from post-op men. Did you sexual drive increase as you lost more weight. My wife is worried that I will start acting like a teenager again. — Jay H. (posted on April 17, 2008)

Im not a man but I had to respond to this. Your wife should be happy if you
start acting like a teenager again. I lost 150LBS and I love my life. every
aspect of it. I did end up getting dicorced after my surgery. All along my
ex I guess likes big women. He is now with another big woman who looks like
a man at that and his first wife was a big woman. Good luck and enjhoy your
life. Tell your wife to have fun.

I will tell you that Joan is not the first devorice that has happened
because a spouse wanted the WLS patient to stay fat or they lost a drinking
partner. I am very lucky to have a slim wife that has loved me for 42
years as we say through thick and thin. The thin with me was only about 5
years after we were married as I got a desk job, and the fat came with it.
I lost nearly 100 pounds in 4-1/2 months and my wife is the one that has
become more sexually active. I thinks she like being able to get her arms
arond me again, and I have no objection to her advances. Do I feel
different; Yes, but when I am ready to go to bed, I am tired because I now
work out in the Gym for 1-1/2 Hours per day, but my trainer says there a
few hundred more calories you can burn with a nice round of sexual activity
before bedtime, or when you get up in the morning, so I take every
opporituniuty I can to improve ton the number of calories that I burn.
But, I don't have any type of drive that I did when I was 17 years old.
Best of success to you.

I attend 3 support meetings per month. As a general rule, it's the woman's
hormones who go "crazy" after surgery, and early post op
pregnancy is a big problem. As for men, I think it varies--the effect on
lost weight vs labido.

I'm not a guy either...and my husband didn't have the surgery, I did...and
um...er...well...he definitely acts like a teenager now! (I never really
grew up to begin with) He actually beams when other men look at me...I
don't notice to be honest, unless they are downright obnoxious, which some
are...No one's complaining...It's nice to find a little lusty youth left
after being married for 23 years...Before surgery, I wondered if we'd ever
really last...Now, I know this is the man who walks with me to the
end...Your wife might be more worried that other women will start paying
attention to YOU!

For me it has increased but I think that it is due to feeling more
confident and getting positive feedback from my wife. She is way more into
it now and enjoys it much more! I have yet to find a bad aspect of having
WLS!!!

SO let me read between the lines here and ask, Is your wife actually saying
the she would rather that you stayed FAT and DIED YOUNG than get healthy
because she doesn't want to "Put out?" I AM a guy. MY wife was
the one to look into the surgery FOR me because she DIDN'T WANT ME TO DIE!
Buddy, I say, get the surgery, GET SKINNY, and GET OUT! It SURE SOUNDS
LIKE your wife could give a DAMNED whether you LIVED or DIED as long as you
DIDN'T inconvenience HER! I don't mean any disrespect but that woman
sounds COLD. You would be doing BOTH of you a favor. She would get what
SHE wants which is YOU OFF of HER, and YOU would get your HEALTH BACK and
HOPEFULLY a WOMAN that can appreciate someone like YOURSELF!
