Hi Gabby, I will be flying out of Victoria, BC Canada on Tuesday for my VSG surgery on Thurs. My flight, hotel and surgery if done laprascopically will be 11000US. I am going to Puerto Vallarta Mexico to see Dr. Joya. A number of people on this site go to him. He has done over 200. Did you check out the "find a bariatric surgeon" on this site. Often they advertise their prices. Good luck with your journey. Gale...

dr pedro kuri in tijuana mexico has a payment plan. the cost for my surgery, 2 nights in the hospital and 1 night in a beautiful hotel, plus all transportation excluding my air fare. was $8900. 2 round trip air line tickets was only $225. Dr Kuri has been doing the band for over 10 yrs, averages 4-6 per day 5 days a week. and even does some on saturdays. The hospital was only 1 yr old, in a nice part of Tj. If i hadn't seen it with my own eyes, i would have never believed it. My brother is a maintenence foreman for a nice hospital here in the states and he was totally impressed with the quality of the equipment that the hospital angeles had. it was probably the nicest and CLEANEST hospital i have ever been in. Dr Kuri's team teaches american doctors how to do the surgery. I went to dr kuri, because i wanted the best. I did my research and felt dr kuri was the best option i had. you don't need a passport to go to tijuana, just a drivers liscense. (until next year) I e-mailed hundreds of dr kuri's clients and got back positive responses from over 400 of his patients. if you want more info let me know. I have sent 5 other people to dr kuri since my surgery, and all have been as impressed as I am . Best of luck....Bonnie

Check out Commonwealth Surgeons in Richmond, VA. I believe self pay is $18,000, not sure of the terms. Another woman on here (jade01) lives in Texas and she came out here and had surgery with my doctor. Commonwealth Surgeons is one of the tops in the industry. The hospital, St. Mary's hospital is EXCELLENT!! Here is their web site. http://www.commonwealthsurgeons.com/

Financial part of the surgery is important, but not nearly as important as the surgeon and the follow up. I see posts on this question about Mexico etc. Ok it may be cheaper, what happens 1 week out and your at home and develop complications, a leak, DVT, Pneumonia. With a Band, slippage , erosion, or you can not get anyone to fill it then it is useless. I work for a bariatric center I would NEVER tell someone to go out of their area. You need your doctor close enough where you can get to him or her quickly and you need a ER that knows how to handle Bariatric patients, for instance to only do a upper GI with a scope do not to ruin your pouch. It does not matter if you come to our center or someone elses to me, all that matters is your safe and have a good outcome. Getting a fill on a band done by another doctor let alone out of this country is next to impossible, I get calls all the time, and also if you get an infection in your port or incisions who is going to treat you?
