Question:
Weight loss after 6 months?
I would love to hear about your weight losses between the 6-12 month period. I am 6 months post-op and have done very well and am just wondering what to look for during the next 6 months. Thanks! — Kristi S. (posted on June 19, 2007)

I lost about 45# between 6-12 mo. I am currently 14 mo post op and have
stayed within a 3# range for past 2 mos. and am well below what my surgeon
projected for me. Hope this helps. Donna 5'6" 286/135

I celebrated my 6 month anniversary yesterday, June 19. I've lost 83.5
pounds. Everyone loses at a different pace. My friend had lost 100 pounds
by 6 months. I am curious, how much have you lost?

I think I only lost about 20# between 6-12 months. I got lax on my eating
and don't dump so was able to eat more carbs that I should have to lose
weight. I was also pretty close to where I wanted to be. I'm at 12
months now and have been going up and down on the same 5 pounds for months.
I think I've pretty much hit my limit -- although personally I'd like to
lose 15 more pounds to hit goal. I'm going to see what my doc says today
(my 1 year check-up) and then either up the exercise/go back to basics on
eating or decide this is where I need to be. I'm happy with how I look
(well, except for the saggy skin) -- I just have a mental issue with what
it says on the scale!

At 6 months out I was down 125 lbs and I am now 1 week shy of my 10 month
and I am down 163 lbs. I am very strict bout my eating though. I don't eat
a lot of things that I see people eating here. I don't do bread, I do
tortillas and do wraps instead of sandwhiches and I don't eat pasta or
rice. My thought is, I did this surgery for a reason and if I don't need it
I don't eat it. Good Luck

Hi Kristy, I just checked my records, as I am 3 1/2 years post surgery, but
I lost 72 pounds in the first six months, and 41 the 2nd 6 months. It
slowed, but was consistent. I also ate more those 2nd 6 months, so that
plays a part. Exercise will become increasingly more important to you, so
slowly increase what you do, and vary your routine, that will also help.
Don't worry about the number that you lose, you can't force that, but just
be faithful to what you know to do. This will bring the most positive
result, and put you on a good path for success in the future. Take care,
and best to you. Patricia P.

I was at about 70# at 6 months, I am now down 80# in 7.5 months with about
8 more #'s to go! I feel great and am wearing a size 8 in some
items....just bought a size 8 skirt today! I try to limit my carbs and get
all my protein in...I have good and bad days with liquids. Everyone thinks
I look great the way I am but it would be nice to get to my goal and have a
normal BMI.

I am 6 months post op on June 8, 2007 and have lost 72 pounds. I started
at 233.6 and height is 5'2. My goal weight is 130 so I am over halfway
there. I have 31 pounds left to lose! Angela

As of June 8 im 5 months out. I have lost 100lbs. I have 35 more lbs to go
to reach my goal. Im still on semi solids bue to my food gets stuck and I
don't like the feeling and don't like dumping. I rather have all my food
smashed and chopped than be stuck. How long does it take to get your eatting
habits to go to solid foods. Thanks Izzy
