Question:
Get ring sized now or wait until after surgery?
So today's my 10th anniversary, and my hubby bought me this beautiful diamond ring. It doesn't fit, do I get it sized now or wait until after I have the surgery. July or August it sounds like when surgery will happen. Thoughts? — Julie H. (posted on June 14, 2007)

Congrats on 10 yrs! I would wait til you lose all your weight. Put it on a
chain and wear it around your neck that way you will still enjoy it. If you
size it to many times then you wear out the band. When you lose all your
weight then size it and wear it proudly.

What a sweet hubby! I would also suggest waiting until you lose weight. I
have had my rings sized twice since surgery--once when I was 30 pounds from
goal for my wedding and then at goal. I think I dropped over two ring
sizes. I wore them on different fingers and I also had a jeweler put a
temporary sizer on it for me (not totally comfortable but free and it
really worked). Best of luck to you!

I would wait. Since my DS I've changed my ring twice. The jeweller said
not to do it very often, as it weakens the ring.

Congrats on your 10th Anniversary. I just went to the jewelers 2 weeks ago
to have a chain fixed and asked about sizing my ring. They also told me to
wait until I was done losing. You could get ring sizers that slip inside
the ring, but I would be tempted not to trust those and will buy a smaller
ring to hold my diamonds in place until I get down to where I hope to be.
Good Luck!!

I'd wait. They have these things called a "bridge" I believe that
you can get from Jewelry stores, they fit underneath your finger so you can
wear your ring w/o it slipping off, etc. I had to do this with my
engagement ring. I don't want to have it done until I am at goal (a few
more months), so I did the bridge thing and no one is the wiser....except
for everyone on OH, now. LOL.

Congrat to both of you. I too would wait until well after your surgery.
Over my 36 years of marriage I have had my rings sized 2x and am hesitant
to size them until I know I am where I will be staying. I may be assuming
wrong but my guess is the ring is too small- however if it is too large get
a ring guard put in- I had one put in my set about 5-6 mo post op and it
only cost $5- I am now almost 14 mos post op and need to finally get the
rings sized. Good luck to you. Donna 286/135

If I was you I would definately wait..(109lb loss here) I am having that
trouble now.. all my rings are so big and loose on me. I have to switch
fingers and try to get a bridge for now to hold them on til I reach my
goal... But CONGRATS 10 yrs thats awesome.. and good luck with the surgery

I went from wearing a ring size of 10/11 to a 6 in the space of a year.

My fingers lost weight and girth -- along with the rest of me. My ring
sizes (all fingers/thumbs) went down several sizes. If it's an expensive
ring, I'd wait -- maybe a year post surgery.
