Question:
felt better when I was on liquids
Hi ~ I am 17 days post-op (lost 25.6 lbs) and starting my 3rd day of soft/puree diet. I don't seem to tolerate fish or poultry too well, I actually felt fantastic when I was on liquids and need some suggestions on how to get in all the protein (60 grams) without consuming the highest protein sources for now. — Pogolover111 (posted on April 7, 2007)

Good Morning! I wouldn't rush the solid foods! If you feel better having
only liquids...listen to your body! There are many waters now that have
protein in them. It was virtually impossible for me to get the necessary
amount of protein in the very beginning. Just take it slow, don't rush,
and don't worry! Eventually, you will be able to get the necessary amount
of protein. Drink protein shakes and protein water for now. Your body is
still healing. Let it heal!!

Thank you Lisa, that is very encouraging and makes sense.

I didn't havea pureed stage 4 weeks clear, then to soft. Why not use a
protein supplement? My choices?
1.) Champion ProScore 100 choco + 8 oz water + ice, blended (hand blender
or Magic Bullet).
2.) Champion Pure Whey Stack choco + 6-8 oz water, shaken.
3.) IDS vanilla-cinnamon + "glop" of DaVinci sugar free caramel
sauce + 8 oz water + ice, blended.
4.) the PWS chco + the van-cin (50/50) in about 10 oz hot water, stirred or
hand blender.
Lately I've been adding a shake of cinnamon to my hot ones since cinnamon
fights belly fat.
I always put 1 scoop of UpCal D powder in (500mg calcium citrate, 250 IU of
vit D3).

there is no timetable for when you will tolerate foods and the different
stages back to eating...use your own common sense for that. Ensure and
High protien drinks are great if you can tolerate or just go back to what
you did when you felt better! Take your time in the transitioning the time
table is a reference not carved in stone...Best of Luck...doing GREAT!
