To be frank, we aren't the people to be asking this. For starters, you
didn't even mention what insurance you have. Some companies cover the
surgery and others do not. You will need to get your policy, in written
form (not verbally from customer service), and check for yourself. Some
insurances cover surgery but if the company you work for has not selected
the obesity rider, then you may be out of luck. That's a question for your
HR dept. You will also have to meet guidelines to be eligible for surgery.
Your actual weight, BMI and any co-morbities you may have are all
contributing factors. Talk to your insurance company and see your PCP for
a referral.

Also, your insurance company should have a website where you can register
and search for their position papers on whichever kind of surgery you want
to have. It also depends on whether or not your company has that written
into the contract.

I don't know where you live but I am from PEI Canada and in Canada MOST
insurnace companies do not pay. Also provincial medicare will not pay for
the Lapband but will pay for the surseon and hospital fees and for the
gastric bypass..I am self paying, so it will cost me about $4800.00.
