Question:
Does OHIP cover Tummy Tuck if you lost over 100 lbs
I lost 102 lbs in a year, and the result was nothing but loose skin. Its a little disappointing because know I worry about that all that saggy stuff hanging there. I thought being overweight was stressful. If anyone has any information, can you please share it would be so helpful. Thanks — b_mark27 (posted on September 12, 2006)

I live in and got the surgery in Ontario. I lost 160 pounds from all-time
top weight and I couldn't find a surgeon that would apply to have OHIP
cover a full tummy tuck. As well, I had a hard time finding a surgeon that
would only do a panniculectomy only without the full tummy tuck because
they said I probably wouldn't be happy with the results without having the
whole schmeer done. So I ended up paying for a full tummy tuck and my
breast reduction (skin of 48G, bulk of 36C) was covered by OHIP and they
were both done at once so I could take advantage of the anesthetist being
covered by OHIP, the OR time being covered by OHIP, and the half day in
hospital being overed by OHIP. If you have problems coming up with the
money for a tummy tuck, there are always companies like creditmedical.com
willing to give you a loan. Good luck!

I don't know what OHIP is but I know I lost over 200 pounds in 1 year and
my insurance wouldn't pay for ANY skin removal or reconstructive surgery,
and believe me I had enough skin to make a parachute, LOL!!

My insurance won't pay for anything, either. I don't get it. The loose
skin causes so many problems, like backaches and such.
good luck!
