Question:
anybody have kooky menstrual cycles?
I was on depo provera shots and came off of them a year ago and just started having periods again 2 months before surgery. Now since surgery (5 weeks ago) I have had 3 periods (2-4 days in length)!!!! Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks in advance. Denise — niecey (posted on May 18, 2006)

Hello Denise,
I honestly have not had this problem. As a matter of fact my cycles had
completely regulated by time I was 3 months post-op. It could be possible
that your body is going through hormone changes and is trying to correct
itself. What I would do is contact my OB/Gyn and make sure that everything
is as it should be as well as your surgeon. I hope this helps.

I also have been on depo provera shots for 6-7 yrs. and never had even
spotting, until a mo. ago, when I spotted for 5 days, then had a period for
7 days, and spotted another 5 days or so, and I have no idea what this was
caused from, the doctor says it could be stress, but I had a pelvic
ultrasound and a pelvic/papst test done a week ago and haven't heard
anything back yet, so I don't understand that at all. Because I don't have
stress I am happier since I should be having surgery in a few months or so.
I was reading someone else's post a while back, and they had mentioned this
also about the depo shot and having a heavier period after surgery, and the
posts came back saying it's just from your hormones being messed up from
having surgery, but definately mention this to your doctor. I'll be
curious if this has happened to other people, but I wish luck. Take
Care!

Hi Denise,
My cycles have been a little kooky as well, almost unpredictable, I am six
months post op, and they have been extremely heavy for 2-3 days and then
stop completely. They have been coming early one month and late the next,
I am going to ask my Dr about it at my check up next week, but from what I
have read and heard about it can take up to a year for your body to adjust
again.. hang in there!!!

I was on depo from nov 1997 (after 1st kid), til feb 1999, I gained 60 lbs
on the shot. Whole time I had no periods. From my lost shot in feb 1999,
til june 2000 no period still, doc had to put my on provera, my blood work
said I was in pre-menalpasal. I was 23 when I started the shot. I am 31
now with 2 kids since and my periods are still wacky. But being over
weight can cause abnormal periods as well.
