Question:
No more weight loss?
Hi, I had my WLS on jan 27 this year. So I am 3 months and a week post op. I have lost 76 Ilbs already, but when I was losing about 10 Ilbs a week, I do not seem to be losing anything else. I thought I would lose weight for at least a year. I have never stopped losing until now, is this it? Is my body saying it is finished losing weight or could I also just be at a temp stand still? Anyone else this happened to? My starting wieght was only 301. I am now down to 226, but want to lose another 30 Ilbs. — MikeL (posted on May 2, 2006)

Hi! Honestly, I think you are just hitting your first stall point. You
have lost a lot in three months and your body is catching up. As long as
you are still following the rules there is no reason that you shouldn't
lose the 30 more lbs. you are hoping to. I had my surgery on 10/19/04 and
started at 304, I am currently between 163 and 167(it fluctuates), but I
was down to 153. At this point I am comfortable and I believe you will get
to the point where you feel comfortable too! Good luck and don't panic...
you will learn your body. It can be strange at times, but you will become
friends with it!

Hey Mike,
I had my surgary on Jan 30th around the same time you did I have lost
68lbs. My weightloss has slowed down to. I have only lost 1 3/4 in 3
weeks everyone I talked to says the same thing that since I lost so much in
the beginning my body is trying to balance it self out. They all say the
weight loss will start again as long as you follow the program.

I am almost 7 mos out and I have been stalled for about 2 months (70 lbs
lost). It seems very common that around 60 -80 lbs most WLS patients hit a
wall. However, like the other posts say - continue exercising, portion
control & healthy food selections. One morning you will wake up and
find you have begun dropping weight again. This surgery isn't about how
fast and how much weight you can lose - it is about how healthy your
lifestyle can become. Stay focused and you will succeed!!

Hi Mike, I am 2 years and 3 months out and I am still losing weight. There
is no time limit on your weight loss. Eat the right foods, drink your
water, exercise and enjoy your life !! I have gone from 216 lbs to 112 lbs.
From sixe 22/24 to size 2 and I was called "skinny" today! I LOVE
IT!!!
Hang in there. Your body is playing "CATCH UP". It will be fine.

Hi Mike, I also had my surgery in january. I have lost 68 lbs to date.
Whenever I feel like I'm not losing, I go back on liquids for 2-3 days,
works everytime. Sounds like you just hit a plateau, you'll start losing
again as long as you stick to the program. Best of luck, Kathy
