Question:
Leaks
I was just wondering can and do leaks happen months or even years later? Or is this just something that can happen right away?? — drunyan (posted on April 4, 2006)

I believe they can happen at any time if you rupture your suture line but
generally speaking, a leak is caught with the leak test.

If you werent transected a leak between the pouch and main stomach can and
does occur at any time. Known as a SLD. Its nasty and can cause ulcers and
regain:( A actual leak of gastric juices into the abdominal cavity once
your out a month is extremly rare. Why do you ask?

I developed a leak while in the hospital when they let me eat. so the leak
test does not always find the leaks. Just hope if you get one they find it
before you go home.
Becuase of the leak I spent a month in the hospital and came home with a
feeding tube which fed me for two more months. This also slowed down my
weight loss in the begining, but at 1 year out doing fine down 178lbs.
