Question:
Is there anyone in Oklahoma that had a Tummy tuck covered by Cigna?
If so, how did you get them to cover it and what plastic surgeon did you use? Thanks! — Jackie S. (posted on February 13, 2006)

I had mine covered by United Healthcare so I don't know about Cigna.
However, I would strongly recommend using Dr. Panchal for the proceedure
even if you have to finance. He is the best in the area. His focus is on
reconstruction and giving a natural look. He is amazing. His office is at
9th and Bryant in Edmond. He was the head of OU Plastic and Reconstructive
surgery until last August. My proceedures were done 10/04 and I know that
the insurance approval has gone down hill since then. They just don't want
to pay anymore. I can recommend that you get as many of your Doctors to
write letters of medical necessity for you as possible and go the the ASPS
(American Society for Plastic Surgeons) and use their Position Statement on
Body Contouring after massive weight loss. It is very helpful in showing
medical necessity and even gives several of the Insurance codes.
Hope that helps....

I work in the healthcare field (currently waiting to have my own
procedure), I know that if your doctor says and lists that you have
recurrent infections, most insurances should pay for reconstructive
surgery. The wheel that squeeks the loudest gets oiled.......GOOD
LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me know how it turns out.
