Question:
Why do my legs feel like rubber?
I'm 20 days post-op after open RNY. I returned to work part-time and am doing great except for my legs. Anyone else experience significant unsteadiness in their legs? — orleans (posted on February 6, 2006)

Yes, I did and while I didn't ask the Dr. about it, I assumed it was due to
less fuel and feeling a little weak. I had very little energy up until
week 6-7 and for the first time in my life, there was no "catching a
second wind" with me. When I was tired, I was down for the count.
But, like I said, around week 6 and 7, I was feeling energetic again and
much more "normal". (not a word I use to describe myself, most
times) Twenty days and back to work?? Seems awfully soon, but if you feel
up to it, I guess it's okay.

I am almost 1 year post-op. I was very weak for several months. Just could
never get enough rest to feel recovered. It will pass but you will have to
really work hard to stay hydrated and get in enough protein. At week 8 I
switched to Nectar protein which made all the difference. I kept trying all
kinds of brands and nothing seemed to agree with me. Nectar is light- not
thick and was easier to drink. Lots of fruit flavors that mix in water. I
like the Teaclicious and cappicino. www.bariatriceating.com is where I
normally purchase it or from my local bariatric center.
