Question:
IF DENIED UNDER MY SECOND ATTEMPT AT PREDETERMINATION HOW CAN I GET MY SECONDARY
CARRIER TO STEP IN? — CINDY D. (posted on October 15, 2003)

My primary insurance denied my surgery because of a contract exclusion.
The secondary insurance authorized the surgery with the first denial from
the primary insurance. I would be in contact with the secondary insurance
and get their requirements in writing. Some carriers require that you go
all the way through the appeals process with the primary insurance before
the secondary insurance will consider picking up the tab. My insurance
company did not require this step. Good luck.
