Question:
What can I expect from the Dept. of Insurance when filing my complaint?
I have filed a written complaint to the Department of Insurance or Insurance Commissioner. — CINDY D. (posted on July 16, 2003)

I too did this when I was fighting with my insurance company for approval.
I got a letter back from them within a couple of weeks....they stated that
they had gotten my request and would be investigating my claim. They also
gave me the name and phone number of the investigator assigned to my claim.
After about a month to a month and a half....I got another letter with
their findings, Of course they found nothing "really" wrong with
my claim...my insurance had an exclusion, However, I had also filed a
complaint at the same time for a breech of confidentiality on my
insurance's part....and the insurance company was forced to file a written
appology to me and cover the bill for my initial consultation!!!! I may
not have gotten what I had wanted.....but I was a pain in my insurance
company's A$$ for a bit...and they deserved that and then some!!!! Good
luck to you!!!!

One question....are you in the appeals process with your insurance co.? If
so, the Dept. of Insurance can't touch them during this process. If not,
you should hear from them within 2 weeks or so. GO GET EM"! I did
this against CIGNA in AZ. I can't do anything against them as of yet, as I
am in denial/appeal number 2, but I WILL proceed with it when I am able to,
MARK MY WORDS! heheheh!
