I was very lucky. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Alliance Select in Iowa.
I saw my family physician, he referred me to my surgeon. Took about
4-weeks to see him. (I had to take a class at the hospital before the
surgeon would see me so that I could learn more about the surgery) Then
about a week after my consult with my doctor, insurance approved the
surgery and I was scheduled for the surgery in 1-month. Mine went quick
and effecient. Good luck!

Hi there. I have BCBS of Arizona. Once my paperwork was submitted to
BCBS, they said I would hear from them in 2 weeks, and I got a letter from
them in exactly 2 weeks. It was a denial (for details read my profile),
resubmitted my paperwork approximately 2 weeks later, and receieved a phone
call 2 business days later saying I was approved.
