Hi! I wasn't in the same boat as you but at 5'3" and 226 day of
surgery (5/16/02) I'd say we are VERY similiar. Today I am still 5'3'
(giggle) but I am now flucuating between 139-142. My shirts are all smalls
and my jeans are size 6/7 or size 8 depending on the brandname. I am off
my heart medicine (aeortic valve leak, mytral valve leak, and
techocardia)and even my blood sugars are back in line. I don't regret for
one moment that I did the surgery. I feel good health wise. I have energy
and self esteem back. It took longer for my mind to catch up with me and
there are days when I still see fat and start to get all caught up on the
"numbers" - how much I've lost, how much I need to loose. But,
the bottom line is I have lost 90 pounds and for that, I AM GRATEFUL!

Hi Cindy, I'm 5'2" and 194 pounds. I'm pre-op and will have my
initial meeting with my surgeon this Monday (4/7) and I'm VERY excited. My
surgeon required a pre-appointment screening where you are required to
write a letter about your health, your dieting attempts, why you think
you'd be a good candidate for surgery, and your knowledge of the surgery.
I wanted to speed things a long a bit, so I've already completed all of my
pre-op requirements, which include a nutrition consult, a psyche
evaluation, and an endoscopy. After much research I've chosen the VBG
procedure, so at this point I'm just waiting to talk my surgeon to discuss
my choice, and then seek insurance approval.

I'm about the same. I was 5'2 1/2" and weighed 210 the night before
surgery (206 at consult). I am now 142 and in size 6's and 8's depending on
the brand. Happy losing, it's the best decision I ever made. Never looked
back.

I am 5'2.5 and weighed 212 the day of surgery. I now weigh 127. I had my
surgery Aug. 7th, 2002. My goal is to be 108lbs--I have very small, light
bones. My surgeon supports this goal weight.

Hi! I am 4'11 1/2 :) and weighed 193 on my first consult. After 2 months of
grazing on what I thought would be my last meals, I weighed 198. I had lap
rny on 2/18/03 and am 6 weeks post op. I have lost 26.5 lbs and have not
had any trouble whatsoever. My weight loss is slower compared to many, but
faster than I could've ever done on my own. I have lost almost 30 inches. I
keep wondering if I really will lose all my weight, this all seems like a
good dream! I am glad to hear other success stories from 'lightweights'. We
all have those moments of wondering if it will really work for us after the
surgery. Good luck to you!

I'm 5' and was 220 day of surgery (open rny). Now 4 weeks out I am 198
lost 22lbs and shrinking every day. So far no problems, complications or
food issues. I also had my gall bladder out and thus a little more pain
than I expected. My surgeon expects I will be at goal weight, 115 in 6
months or less. Best wishes!!
