Question:
Anyon ehave experience with Resection Gastrict Bypass?
I attended the monthly support meeting for folks who have had/are planning to have surgery from the same surgeon I am (Lt.Col. Ann Fiala at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio) There, I learned that she only does Resectional Gastric Bypass surgery--where she actually removes the other 90% of the stomach that is not part of the "pouch" rather than band or staple it. Most everyone there seems to have had very good success with the surgery (my friend who first told me about Dr. Fiala has lost 115 lbs in the past 10 months since her surgery). I hadn't heard of this specific variation, and wonder if anyone here has had experience with it. Thanks and God bless all of you. Joe — Joe M. (posted on March 22, 2001)

leaving the unused portion of the stomach in would serve no purpose, there
fore they remove it.He also removes the gall bladder and appendix at the
