I could be wrong, but I believe that they can do a RNY after a VBG... and
that's what I had, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I had mine done in
March of 2009, and I've lost over 140 pounds, and kept it off, and I'm
happier than I've ever been in my 57 years! I've only had one problem (a
stricture about 6 weeks out)...and I still have the issues with throwing up
if I eat too much... but yeah....what a life-changer. HOWEVER, just like
all these other surgeries, they ARE WHAT YOU MAKE THEM. You MUST follow
the plan, you MUST take your vitamins and supplements, you MUST get in your
protein first, and limit your fats and carbs, and you MUST get some form of
exercise daily. The surgery is not a magic bullet...it's only a tool. And
if you don't use it the way it's supposed to be used, it won't work. Pure
and simple.

The feasibility of any revision depends on your individual anatomy and
circumstances, but assuming everything else is a go, you aren't limited to
the LapBand as an alternative; the RNY, the DS (duodenal switch), and the
vertical gastrectomy (also called sleeve gastrectomy, sleeve, and so on)
are all possibilities.
