I would ask for a referral to a GI doctor. This does not sound like problems your surgeon could evaluate..Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Dona, have you gone back to the surgeon? I had some of the same issues...had a strickure (?). Also, are you eating to much sugar, not chewing well enough? This is such a new way of life for us and it does take some re learning. I wish you well.

Have you tried drinking warm or hot things such as hot tea? I had the same problem and my doc said to try mucinex and to drink something hot before eating - that it would thin out the mucous. Also, like mentioned before, make sure you are chewing everything completely. Good Luck.

I would definately contact the doctor...something isn't right and they need to find it so you don't get more dehydrated! Best of luck and feel better soon! hugs,Kim

Because you have a hard time wit water, I would say you are getting scar tissue forming over your opening from the esphogus and stomach. If you could hold down water, I would say you are chewing well enough or your bites are too big or you are eating to fast or eating too much. The mucous, is probably what we call "the foamies". That is usually what happens when food has blocked the opening and saliva builds up. Go see your doctor soon. Don't wait.

I don't want to add to your problems but since your OH profile is not filled in we have no idea which surgery for one that you received. And what are you eating & drinking? The tons of mucous makes it sound as your getting the Foamies. Most likely from not chewing enough to make the food a fine mush. And drinking while eating or too soon after eating. And most probably drinking to clear the blockage, causing more problems. Also your drinking are you sipping constantly? This will fight the dehydration.

I go along with stricture. I had one that started at about 4 weeks out, but I didn't talk to my doctor about it until about 6 weeks out.... turned out the hole between my pouch and intestines had narrowed to about 1/4 of an inch.... they went in and dilated it to a little less than half an inch, and afterwards, everything was great. There was no pain, and I asked to be put completely out for the procedure (which only took about 5 minutes) because I suffer from anxiety attacks, and if I thought or felt like I couldn't breath because of the tube down my throat, I would have fought them. So, the whole thing took less than 15 minutes. Not a big deal....

Hi Dona, I too vote for the stricture. I was wonderful at my post op appt 2.5 wks out then 2 days later was throwing up everything, vitamins, water, and any food. I was told that the opening to your stomach adjusts to your new stomach & mine just keep going smaller sooooooo anything I took in was stuck between my throat & opening to the pouch. Very much just a clear mucas but lost 9 lbs in almost a week so was dehydrated too. They put me in the hospital at 8am on a saturday morning & I was out by 7pm. GI Dr. scoped & slowly stretched the opening to 22mm then follewed with an upper GI to make sure everything was going all the way down. I had to prove I could eat (jello, broth) before they released me but everything ok now. My Dr. said I was just a good healer...????
