I had 3 anastomatic ulcers diagnosed last year, 4 years out from surgery.
I also get symptoms at times post ulcer and I know to start treating before
I get that bad off again.

I had an anastamotic ulcer at 4 months out. A few weeks ago thought I had
another starting, got right in and had the EGD to check it out. Symptom
for me was feeling full after only a small portion of my measured meal,
when it started to effect my drinking I called right in and was seen (1st
time in the er, this time within 24 hours). This time there was no obvious
ulcer, but because of my history, I'm still taking the carafate (stomache
coating med) and my prevacid solutab twice a day rather than just once.
Can't tell what is going on yet this time, and I will be doing a video
swallow study to try to figure it out in the next month (takes alot of
coordination to get this one done).
If you think you have an ulcer, please follow up with your doc, it's very
important.

I had two at 6 years and 7 years, both sudden and requiring
hospitalization. Now, more seriously, I am in the hospital after my small
intestine twisted. They had to remove several feet in a series of 3
surgeries. I now have two colostomies which I hope they will reverse in a
few months. I have been here in the hospital for 5 weeks and was not
expected to live. Please beware of vomiting without nausea and acute onset
of abdominal pain.

I suffered an ulcer 10 weeks out from surgery. It had run from my new
pouch to my old stomach and when the doctor tried to fix the stricture by
endoscopic balloon, it tore everything apart. He had to do a total
revision of my surgery. Prior to this, I had only experienced normal
stricture symptoms, such as not being able to eat solid foods, vomitting,
and regurg. Don't mess around if you think you have a stricture or ulcer.
Get in to the doctor and get an endoscopic scope done.
