I know how you feel. I had my bypass in July and have lost 30 lbs. only.
It seems to do nothing for 6 weeks and then I drop 10 lbs. It's
frustrating but as long as I know that every 4 to 6 weeks I lose 10 lbs.
I'll relax. Just take it easy and 30lbs in 3 weeks is so great.

Some doctors don't want you to eat any fruits for several months after
surgery. Are bananas listed on the diet plan your surgeon provided? Make
sure you are not weighing yourself more than once weekly.

I have heard of people eating banans to gain weight. I wouldn't recommend
that. Plus,...protein first! try sugar free cream of wheat, or oatmeal. It
tastes good and has protein in it. If you are too early out for this, try
scrambled eggs( beaters) in the micro, or cottage cheese or yogurt. All
fine breakfasts. Iused to buy fresh mozzerella and melt it with a lil bit
of chili or bruschetta on top. Try foods you didn't like before..you may
like them now. I hated cheese before surgery and now I have tons inmy
fridge. Best of luck!

Banana's are very fattening, and the serving size of a banana is 1/2, so if
eat half of it instead of the whole thing, you might see a slight
difference in your weight. Also, a person could be losing inches instead
of pounds that show on a scale. When you lose inches it isn't going to
show from weighing yourself. YOu might be losing and just don't realize.
Take your measurements. Bump up your water and protein intake. Bananas
are also high in potasium which isn't good either. So probably limit your
intake to 2 a week. Check with your dietician.

I am diabetic (still pre-op) and when I eat a banana, I either eat half OR
eat the whole thing and count it as 2 fruits. Also, make sure to buy the
smaller bananas at the store, not the tiny ones, but NOT the ones that look
like they're on steroids, lol! If you buy the large bananas, you should
cut those into thirds. Hope this helps!!

My third day in the hospital they gave me pureed bananas. It is on the
diet plan my nutritionist gave so I'm assuming ever surgeon and dietician
are different. I personally don't eat bananas that often, but if they were
bad for me I don't see why they would give them to me on my 3rd day post
op.
