Question:
Has anyone else totally fell off the wagon after their surgery consult?

I've lost 48 lbs and have only 12 more to go before I can schedule my surgery. I had a surgery consult and I've totally fallen off the wagon. What is this?    — MaMa_Dee (posted on August 2, 2009)

You are about to change your entire lifestyle and your subconsiounse is protesting from your comfort zone. You might want to talk to someone about what's going on to help you get through with what's going on.

My surgeon didn't give me a specific goal on how much to lose and I lost 22 pounds in the 7 weeks between approval and surgery. I had good days and bad days. I made myself journal even on bad days and that helped me not have continous bad days but I still struggled. I also believe I was rebelling against the idea that I was committing to a healthier lifestyle and wanted to get "one-more" french fry pigout, etc. Just try to journel what you eat and take it one day at a time. You've lost 48 pounds pre-op!!!!!!! That is so awesome, you can get back on that success track to get the last 12. Kevin

Same thing happened to me. Make sure your exercising. "Restart" your diet, tell yourself what you are doing this for. Do not let this get you down.

when i was told i had to do a 6 month supervised diet plan at FIRST i fell off the wagon. i gained 8 lbs from october-january. then the doctor said, "if you want us to schedule surgery, you'll take off those 8 lbs". so basically i did everything i could to get rid of the 8 lbs and i lost those and 21 more as well! you might want to try going to weight watchers or OA meetings or some kind of support group to keep yourself in check.

I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I am there myself and quite get why I just seem not to care. I think I have been disappointed and have not really been putting much effort into it. Its never to late though, even if you have to get delayed, just make up your mind what you want and work again towards it. WE CAN DO THIS!! Best wishes..
