Hi...twisted intestines..no..but at our meeting the other nite we were told abouta horrific pain the person that has our meeting had and it was believed to be the intestines sorta moving up into its self. I cant remember the correct name for this..but we were told it is something that happens more with babies than adults..except we dont follow that rule due to our RNY surg. I/we were told the pain was AWFUL..she did say that if this happens to lay on our left side. NOW..this info is NOT to make you NOT call your DR. just info I was given. I would ALWAYS call my DR. and let him/her make a decision about any pain.

I had twisted intestines 2 days post op. It ended up correcting itself. I had to sleep sitting up (1 night) but it was worth not having to have another surgery. I did not have pain... just a lot of vomiting. If you are having please call your doctor. good luck Tracy

Here are some terms to look up. See if these are what you are trying to describe: "malrotation", "volvulus", or "intussusception". All issues relating to the gut. -good luck!

Another term that has been used for a twisted intestine, is "Stricture." It actually refers to the twist that causes the intestine to become blocked.

My intestines were twisted after surgery and for about one full day, I would have this crazy pain that would make me sit up straight and yell out for about 5 to 8 seconds and then it would quit. It would happen about every 30 minutes to every few hours. This was about the 2nd day post op. Yes, it hurt and it kind of scares you when you don't expect it because you wonder what's happening and how long it will last. But after that full day of going through it, they got adjusted and the pain stopped. But you WILL notice the pain when it happens. Fortunately, I was still in hospital when it was happening and they let me know what it was. Otherwise, I would have thought I needed 9-1-1 emergency! (I had RNY) But it goes away.
