Question:
OTC drug for cold and sore throat?
I am post op 5 months with a 71 pound loss. I am having my first cold with a sore throat. Does anyone have a good over the counter drug that works best after having gastric bypass? — ragan (posted on May 10, 2009)

My surgeon said I could get the Tylenol equivalent of Ny-Quil and Day-Quil.
I found it at Wal Mart, but I'm sure that any pharmacy would carry it.

I just gargle with salt water for the sore throat and take tylenol for
headaches...Stuffy noses, I use a Neti Pot...I go all natural when I
can...For bad colds I take
"Tylenol Cold Multi-Symptom
Severe" to relieve all your cold symptoms as a last resort...I also
like the Halls SF Vit C to calm a stratchy throat (taste too much like
candy though and so I have to watch how many I eat! LOL...But I honestly
have not had a cold that lasted more
than 3 days since surgery 5+ years ago...I used to get sick for weeks! My
surgeon also suggested ZiCam nose spray to halt colds before they really get started and I
SWEAR by that stuff for when I do feel a cold coming...I just put zinc drops in my
neti pot now...and take zinc lozenges when exposed to a cold...Hopefully your cold passes soon...
