Question:
Is my lap-band really doing it's job?
Sometimes the only way that I know that I have a lap-band is by the scars on my belly. I've never thrown up. I have eaten to the point of discomfort. When I do not follow my Dr.'s eating plan, I do not lose a pound. With or without the band, following this plan would make me lose weight so what is the band for? I had my surgery on Feb. 4, 2009 and so far I have only lost about 20 lbs. What am I doing wrong? What can I do to speed things up. Should I insist on a fill? My nut said I didn't need one. — Cookie1257 (posted on April 30, 2009)

I thoughly understand you frustration. I can't wait until my first fill.
I am starving. The first 4 weeks I was able to following all diet plan.
But I still have 6 days to fill, and have had not problems with band, have
lost 20lbs, but sure wish they had already filled my band last week as
their is nothing I can't eat as this point. I practiced all the chewing, I
thought I would have more problems eating after surgery, but for past 2
weeks since soreness from surgery has worn off I have been fighting the
same hunger issues I had prior to this surgery. I am hoping fill will help
me with this problem. I am a self pay bander, and want to get the most for
my money. If your hungry I would ask for another fill. As long as your
doing everything your supposed to be doing a fill is supposed to make it so
you aren't hungry. Good Luck in your continued struggle with weight loss.
