I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically 6 years ago and I had the gastric bypass 2 months ago. The bypass required 5 small incisions. The gallbladder, two, I think. I didnt have any problems.

I had my gallbladder removed 8/07 and then had lap VSG 5/08 with no problems. I do have 11 scars on my stomach now but the 2 procedures but they have faded and don't bother me at all. The incisions were very small as they are for RNY. Best thing I ever did!

I had a c-section and 8 weeks after that I had my gallbladder out. 12 years later I had gastric bypass. Other than a couple of adhesions from my c-section which the doctor removed, there were no problems. My bypass was well over a year ago.

In 1995 I had my gallbladder, appendix, adhesions & a cyst taken out. Had LAP RNY on 2/15/07 - two years next month - NO issues at all. In fact the surgeon said it was one of the easier and quickest procedure he had done.

I had gastric bypass and my gall bladder and a hernia repaired all at once in march of 2008 and i have very faint scars which are almost like tiny pen marks and you can barely see them as of today, cant really see the scars unless your right up close to my stomach and looking for the marks. - Patti

Yes you can. And as you can see by all the other posts there is generally no problem. Scarring can be minimized by your surgeon. Good Luck and God Bless, vinnigirl, retired RN

I had gallbladder removed in August of 2007, then Gastric Bypass in November of 2008. No problems with either, scars are very small and unnoticable. Scars shrink very quickly on both surgeries.

I had gallbladder removed in 1980 and lap RNY in 2006- so far have lost 151 anf gone from a size 24 to a size 8. You just have to have a very good surgeon. Good luck. Donna

I had my gallbladder removed 5 years ago lap and my rny 3 years ago lap. So, yes it can be done. There is no more scarring than when you had your gallbladder. My surgeon went through those scars from my gall bladder and I had a couple of new ones, but not any worse. Hope this helps you. Good luck with your surgery.

I had my gallbladder removed in 7/07 and then had laproscopic rny 7/08. My surgeon said that I had very little internal scarring from the gallbladder which she appreciated greatly. As for my stomach I had 4 incisions for my gallbladder (all but 1 have faded completely) and they reused one of them for the rny. Right now I have 6 very noticable incisions but they will fade somewhat with time. Not a big deal for the benefits I've gained.

I just had my RNY at the end of November and they did it Lap. I had 5 small incisions about 1" long. I think the Dr.'s like the difference between prior lap ops and the old open admn. ops. Less adheasion/scarring inside to deal with.
