I would check with my doctor first; and how do you feel; healthy or having
some problems? Just got to be careful. Remembering the nutrition and all
that; you don't want to undo what you are trying to accomplish.

WHY? That happens naturally with a good diet and fiber...lots of water and
you really need nothing else unless you have some kind of problems like
diverticulitis or other digestive/intestinal/colon problems...A box of
fiber one cereal or eating more fruits and veggies or even taking a fiber
supplement is so much less expensive or invasive (depending on exactly how
you were planning to do a total body cleanse)!

You asked a Naturopathic-type question. I know a lot of folks who thrive
because of regular cleanses; but, none of these folks have had weight loss
surgery. I am almost 4 years out from my RNY, and a strong advocate for
juicing fruits and vegetables, eating raw vegetables -- even though the
quantity is small -- paying especially good attention to what I eat in
order to be good to my thyroid, pancreas, and liver. Yet, to this day, I
hesitate to do a cleanse. This is not saying that I haven't tried. Yet,
after I try to start to do a cleanse, something pulls me back from
following through with one. I believe my intuition is guiding me here, but
I could be wrong. My own doctor would not understand. But, he was only
there for the surgery (and did a fantastic job) but doesn't have a clue
about post-surgery life-long issues we who have had this WLS face. What
does your doctor advise you? Does he or she have a background or interest
in totall nutrition? What does your nutritionist advise you? In my
personal opinion, I think that 11 months may be way too soon to consider
this option because your tool and body are stilll healing. Perhaps, now
that I've freely spoken about this area, others may come forth with quality
advise from backgrounds of understanding and not lack of knowledge and
confusion. Congratulations on your surgery! Christine Gibson, MS, MA, OH
