Question:
Will I stop losing weight
Any month I go to support meeting and hear that we have 12-18 months to lose all we are going to lose and then we hit a plateau that never really goes away. I just wanted some feedback on this, I am 14 months out have lost 228 pounds but still have 50. I cannot lose 50 pounds in 4 months, not anymore anyway. I try to not let it bother me, but it has been weighing heavy on my mind. — jmas24 (posted on October 16, 2008)

You're hearing some statistics from study. Not everybody has the exact same
response to RNY. I had RNY on May 10, 2006. By Xmas, I'd lost 100 pounds
since surgery date, and that's 7 months with a wt of 222. I'm now down to
187-189, getting there in May, 2008, some 24 months post op. So you can
lose wt past 18 months. DAVE

The 12-18 months is just an average...Some people go longer than that!
Just like most people lose 100...so many lose more than that or some lose
less...You may have to lose that last 50 a little slower, but you can still
lose after yor body stops...Kick up the exercise, eat leaner and less
calories and stay on top of your vits and supps. I admit that once it
stops...You have to work hard to lose more weight! It's not easy but you
can still do it! Another thing.... you might try not to let a
"number" define who you are or should be. If you feel good it
doesn't matter your exact weight or BMI...

I lost 265 lbs in 15 months.no plateaus ,no hibernation just steady weight
loss.I also followed the program to a tee and excerised every day.at the
end of 15 months i had lost all i wanted to loose so i had to find a way to
increase the calories .I dump badly and could not increase the amount i ate
so i had quite a challenge but i did it.instead of one serving of a starch
once a week i now can have one every day as long as my weight remains in
the 10 lb float that i live with.the 12-18 month u speak about is different
for everyone.I have seen honeymoons that lasted 6 months and others that
lasted much longer ,one i know continued to looose into the third year post
op.every body is different.in the six months after i stopped loosing my
clothes size went down another 2 sizes with no additional lbs lost.not to
worry just keep on keeping on your body will find its place.
