Speed up weight loss
Looking for suggestions to speed up weight loss, post op lapband 30 pounds 4/08. Slowing down, having problems sticking to eating healthy foods — savoy7658 (posted on October 12, 2008)

Lapband tends to be a slower wt loss method than RNY. I suggest you find a
lapband support group so you can learn more about your surgery. From what
I've learned at my RNY support groups, lapband patients will lose less wt
over a longer period of time, possibly 2 years to lose 75-100 pounds. I
personally do not know any lapband patients, so your local support group
may be the best source of information for you. DAVE

Dear Janice, Have you tried sugarless hard candy? Also, "letting"
yourself indulge now & then can help ward off cravings. The key here
is, though, is to do so consciously & stop at 1 [ice cream, whatever
... ]. Confusion here - will get back to you this evening. It's hard hard
hard, I know. Have you tried TOPS? -Barbara W. [Oakroom]

Hi Janice, Of course, another approach is to step up the exercise. This can
help ease anxiety which could be contributing to cravings - it also reduces
your appetite & makes you feel good [!] - natural endorphins. OH - and
burns cals, speeding weight loss. Good luck - write any time ... I have
similar concerns. Take care, Barbara W. [oakroom]

Hi Janice,
Do yourself a favor and stick to your meal plan. Don't start to snack or
graze, it will keep the weight from coming off. Exercise every day for an
hour. If you don't want to do an hour all at once you can break the time
up any way you want; just get in a minimum of an hour a day.
Make it an act of love and care for yourself. You have been given this
opportunity, please don't let it slip through your fingers. Do your best
to get to WLS meetings and get a buddy system going. Being accountable is
important. Look at how far you have come. Everyday renew your commitment
to yourself. I know you can do it.
All the best,

Janice, I had lap band 4-16-08 and I am down 60 pounds and lots of inches.
Stick to the diet. My surgeon told me that everyone cheats and he sat down
and told me how to cheat in a good way, BUT NOT TO OFTEN. I have kept that
in mind when I put stuff in my mouth. How many fills have you had? I have
a 14cc band and I have had only three fills and the doctor told me
yesterday that they found the "sweet spot" in my band. It is
hard to lose the weight but I do exercise 3-4 times a week (water aerobics)
and I am doing really well. Good Luck on your journey.

Suggestion: put an old pic of yourself on the refridge. This should help
keep you motivated to say on the right track.
