I feel nauseated when I drink or eat too fast....could that be what you
should consider slowing down. I had RNY and if I drink my protein too fast
I get sick to my stomach and shaky. Best of luck and hope you start
feeling better soon...

I had lap rny 11/07 and I still get nauseated. If I drink/eat anything
with sugar or eat too much I get sick. In fact, I'm going through it right
now. Last night I had a tiny sliver of cake...just couldn't resist and a
teaspoon of ice cream and boy did I ever get sick, I was really hot and
weak, it lasted for about half an hour, I went to bed and I'm still
suffering the weakness today. I just never learn, smile.

I was banded 4-16-08 and I get nauseated if I eat too fast or drink
something too fast or if I drink a protein shake for breakfast, I can't
take my medications for about 30 minutes afterwards, it just won't go down
and if it goes down, I get nauseated. I have eaten something that just
was not on the diet and I was miserabe for several hours but that taught me
that I never want that again. You learn quickly when your band says no way
and that sticks in your head.

I do not have the band but did have a lap RNY 3 months ago today. I learned
very quickly that dehydration will cause nausea. I don't know if that is
as big a problem with the band as it is RNY, but something to consider. I
have had to go to the ER twice now with dehydration (I live in AZ) and it
was the nausea that made me give in and go. If the nausea is continuous, as
in not just after a meal, then increase your fluid intake or consider
seeing your surgeon or head to the Er since it is a holiday. If dehydration
be careful in the heat as it can happen very quickly.

OK< this may not help much depending on how bad your nausea is, but when
I was in the hospital after lap-RNY, I would walk and gag over and over
again. The nurses handed me an alcohol swab (the kind in a little envelope
that you use to clean a blood stick area before sticking) and breathing
deeply with one of them under my nose stoped the nausea/gagging
immediately. Worth a try. I now keep them on hand if the need arises but
so far it hasn't. Good luck.

Excellent suggestion, those little alchol swabs do it every time. Also slow
down, drink slowly cut up food into smaller pieces and relax while eating.
Good Luck
