Question:
I had Lap Band on 5/5/8. I have lost 27 lbs so far, have not lost anything in 4 days
Is this normal? I have been following my nutrition guidlines but I'm finding it difficult to eat as much as they want me too. — loriah (posted on May 22, 2008)

I had lap rny on 5/5/08. I lost 23 lbs so far since surgery. i think maybe
a little slower because I lost 30 lbs prior to surgery. I think you are
doing great. Congratulations

Sounds like you are doing famously! Way to go! Keep up the good work.
It'll come. Some folks say to up your protein a little and that helps.
Your body is probably busy saying, "WHAT have you done to us?"
and hanging on for dear life but it will soon realize you are master and it
can't beat you and the tool! You're gonna do awesome!

Sounds like you are doing great! Perhaps you might try staying off the
scale a little bit. It sounds as if you are weighing every day. That can
be a good and a bad thing. I don't weigh at home at all, I don't even own
a scale. I only weigh at the doctor. And... keep in mind, some people can
go 4 weeks on a plateau and not lose anything.... 4 days is not that long
really. I know you are working really hard everyday and want to see
results everyday... it doesn't always work that way. Your body is
undergoing HUGE and drastic changes and needs times to adjust.
Could you please clarify what you mean when you say you find it difficult
to eat as much as they want you to? Are you talking about protein or what
specifically? Most surgeons I have spoken to say you can't eat too
little.
Good luck,

Hi--I had surgery a little before you, on 4/28/8 and I noticed that I
actually gained a few pounds about 2-3 weeks out. I just kept journaling,
and counting my protein and water, and it came right back off. I think
bodies like to rebel after such a major surgery. You're still healing, and
if your getting in what you can, than you're doing fine:) See ya slimmer!

What is happening is definitely normal! You will hit plateaus now and then
as your body adjusts. I hit one that was almost a month long, and I
understand what FRUSTRATION is. Just keep up with your guidelines, maybe
change some things up like they mentioned above, and eventually, your body
will be ready to move on again! You are doing great!

perfectly normal. Be patient with your weight loss. This is no miracle,
it is just weight loss. A Plateau is 90 days or 3 months at the same
weight. Weighing every day is counter productive to weight loss for most
people. I weighed once a week, every week in the morning, and sometimes it
was only a half pound, but I lost every week and was encouraged! Do what
encourages, not what constrains you. Patricia P.

You are doing great!!! I'm 7 wks out and down 34lbs. I hit a little plataeu
of about 3 wks, then lost 7lbs in a little more then a wk after that. If
you arn't already, really start walking as much as you can. There is an
interesting article on the fitness forum about walking and why it works for
weight loss. When i get in a good hard walk, the next day the scale moves.
Make sure you are getting in enough cals (good cals), protein first of
course and lots of water. Track your food so you know exactly what you are
eating and it makes it easier to tweak your diet. Eggface has some
interesting tools on her profile you might want to ck out.I have been
learning lots of new things about good dieting lately and it really helps
me understand the process. But, so far, so good. Keep it up! PM me if you
would like to talk more about it. God bless.

There will be days ...even weeks that you might not lose lbs...that is
called compacting...your body playing catch up...make sure you measure
yourself as you will lose inches when you aren't losing pounds....
