I never had any problems at all and it never felt like glass going down.
You can't eat much but never any problems with it.

Some food on different people have a different reaction or feeling. Ilove
chicken, but it was 6 weeks before I could eat more than one bit. It is
just how it sits on you new pouch and because there is stitches there, the
food can make you feel full on a single bit. Just chop it up more and work
your way from wet and finally chopped to chopping with your own teath. You
will do fine. Best of success to you.

Your friend must have had a bad experience with intubation or something.
Either that or they were trying to drink SAND. Unless you are blending
potato chips or something crispy and you don't add liquids and chew
properly, there shouldn't be a problem. Follow your doctor's dietary
guidelines. DON'T try to cheat. Stay away from the CHIPS! ;-)

well one thing is for sure, you hear EVERYTHING on this site.
I can't imagine why pureed food would feel like glass. If anything, that
would be when you start real food and eat something harder, like a piece of
meat. But that is why you're supposed to chew real well when you get to
that point.
I never had any problems with pureed food....I just didn't like it.
Mental attitude about what you're doing is very important so please don't
be scared. Just try things slowly and see what works for you.
And don't believe everything you read on this site or others on the
internet. Take everything "with a grain of salt".

I can only speak from my own experience but I have never had anything feel
like glass. I had alot of trial and error but I can tell you that I ate
alot of chicken, tuna and egg salad....blended really well ofcourse. It
got me through my first couple of months. You have to do what works for
you though...I have 4 friends that had the surgery and we were all
different. You will find what works for you...but one thing I will
say.....stay away from sugar!!! I am 5 years out and still maintained my
weight and I watched my sugar. My other friends weren't so lucky because
they went back to the sugar. There alot of sugar free stuff out there that
are out there that are really good. keep up with support groups...they are
alot of help. Your new life has just begun. I wish you the best of luck!

I never heard that one before, and I was so happy to add new food to my
otherwise boring diet that it was just plain wonderful. Who would have
thought that I would call my Mom and tell her that I just had the BEST
scrambled egg that I ever had in my life!!!
Remember, everyone is different so problems that others have you may not
and things that don't sit well with you may be fine with others. I cannot
eat certain brands of american cheese, they make me feel horrible while
other brands are fine. Enjoy your new food choices and remember you are
still healing and this will all change with time, if something does not
work out for you now, don't write it off your list, try it again later.
Enjoy your new stage of food, I even liked baby food! I was also told by my
nutritionist to use a baby spoon at that stag, worked out well for me. Tuna
in the blender with some fat free mayo was my favorite and loaded with
protein. Good luck to you.

I ate pureed foods from the time I came home from the hospital and NEVER
had any such sensation. Maybe the person who told you this had this unique
sensation. Don't worry about it, we are all different and since I know of
no one having this problem, go forward and think positively. You will do
fine. Blessings to you on your journey...

Hmmm I have never heard anybody say it felt like glass. I didn't have a
problem at all. I couldn't tell the difference between the blended and
liquid. Try not to be scared if it does hurt just take it easy and make
sure you are getting your liquids and protein in. Best of luck! Angela

I'm sure for some people it might feel that way, but it didn't for me.
Just eat slow (focus on what you are eating) and take small bites. Eating
too fast or too much in a bite can cause pain in some/most post-RNYers.

Whoever told you that must have had something majorly wrong with them. It
does not feel like that at all. If anything it's a relief to get more solid
food in even in the pureed form. Just go slow so you will know if your new
tummy can tolerate it.
It DOES NOT feel like glass!
God Bless!!

I never felt like any of my feel was glass! You just need to take it
slow...introduce one new food at a meal so that if you have a problem
you'll know what it is. My trouble food was tuna, but everyone is
different. You shouldn't have any problems if you take it slow and make
sure you wait in between bites. If I ate too fast I would get the feeling
that something was stuck in my chest and frequently ended up vomiting, and
that is not a pleasant feeling. No fluids with your solids either...1/2
hour before or 45 min to hour after. Good luck.
