Question:
In my buttocks
I have a lot of loose skin on my buttocks area where it sort of even gets painful when I try driving or sitting in chairs. I sort of have to rearrange my sitting. anyone else kind of have this problem and what kind of exercises might help tighten my buttocks, used to be tighter when i was heavier. would appreciate any advice — babynature39 (posted on April 10, 2008)

That's one of the byproducts of RNY, no more padding on the tailbone area,
so it's gonna hurt a little when you sit on hard surfaces. I saw a seminar
by a local plastic surgeon, who specializes in WLS patients. When he does a
lower body lift, he folds over a flap of extra fat over the tailbone, as
your complaint is a common one he hears. I bet you get cold now
too--another "extra" from WLS.

I have found spankings quite rewarding. ;-)

Are you exercising? That will derfinately tighten up the muscles and help
with the pain I am sure. I hav been classes called bodypump at the Ymca and
what a difference, my butt is actually getting round and not this dumb
flat wall. Best to ya!

I worked out at the Gym and my trainer worked n things to tighten the skin,
but I think if you did not do this as you were loosing it is not going to
tighten now. One of the ladies at our support group, carried an inflatable
donut like people with hemroids. She says that it help the pain from
sitting on hard seats for prolonged period of time.

Squats are your best friend!!! Also, if I can reccommend documenting all
these problems/issues with the loose skin (on your own as well as with your
PCP) - should you decide to have plastic surgery later, the documentation
should help you with getting at least a portion of it covered by insurance!
